A Trip Through Iowa’s Military History

 

Single Day Event: Thursday, Sept. 13; 1-3 PM

Location: Gold Star Museum, Camp Dodge, 7105 Northwest 70th Avenue, Johnston

A valid driver’s license or government photo identification is required to enter Camp Dodge.

Learn about Iowa’s military history, beginning with the formation of Camp Dodge in 1909 and continuing through succeeding war periods. After a 30-minute slide show there will be an opportunity to tour the 18,000-square-foot exhibit hall with artifacts from Iowans during their wartime service. The museum also includes an extensive outdoor exhibit of military vehicles which you may visit after the inside tour.

 

Instructor Michael J. Musel, LTC (Ret.) has worked at the Gold Star Museum for 10 years as an administrative assistant and tour guide. A graduate of the Command General Staff College, Mike had 28 years of military service, including time with the Iowa National Guard.
