How did Des Moines get its name? This PowerPoint presentation will answer that question and many more. Learn about the founding of our fair city, its early influential residents, and their businesses. The lecture will end with a photo tour of the changes in the Des Moines cityscape.
Instructor Archie Cook has taught history in Des Moines’ schools for 20 years. He is a member of the following historical societies: State Historical Society of Iowa, Des Moines Historical Society, Iowa Genealogical Society, and Iowa Archaeological Society.
