My Life with the Kennedy Assassination Film
Single Day Event: Monday, September 25, 1:30-3:30 PM
Location: Wesley Acres Theater, DM
Class Limit: 30
Maureen Hughes-Thompson and husband Robert Hughes were in Dallas on the day President Kennedy was assassinated. During his lunch break, Robert filmed part of the motorcade with an 8mm camera. Today that film is one of only a few considered most important in identifying the events along the parade route immediately prior to and following the assassination in Dealey Plaza. Maureen will discuss how its possession has influenced many years of her life. She will also present some of the popular conspiracy theories which have accompanied the assassination discussion. Both the Hughes film and the Zapruder film will be viewed with permission of the Dallas Sixth Floor Museum, current custodian of the films.
Instructor Maureen Hughes-Thompson is a graduate of Simpson College with a master’s degree from Southern Methodist University. She has retired from teaching high school English courses.
