Drawing in Space: Taking a Line for a Walk

Single Day Event: Thursday, September 28, 1–2:30 PM

Location: Des Moines Art Center, 4700 Grand Ave., DM

Cost: $12

Class Limit: $18

Four artists will work with tape to create massive, site-specific installations in various parts of the museum. This innovative show offers a perfect example of how an artist can be inspired by the opportunity to interact directly with spaces and structures. We will consider how such very temporary artworks can be preserved and evaluated in the marketplace.

Instructor Madelyn Mayberry volunteers as a docent at the Des Moines Art Center and serves on the National Docent Council Board of Directors. She holds degrees in art, art education, and higher education from the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University. Madelyn has taught art education at ISU as well as art and humanities at the K-12 and community college levels.
