Teamwork: Architects and Artworks

This tour focuses on the Des Moines Art Center’s world-class architecture and the historical evolution of the facility. What is the relationship between the architecture and the artworks housed within? How do the galleries, corridors, and alcoves affect our experience of the art as we move throughout the museum?


Instructor Madelyn Mayberry volunteers as a docent at the Des Moines Art Center and serves on the National Docent Council Board of Directors. She holds degrees in art, art education, and higher education from the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University. Madelyn has taught art education at ISU as well as art and humanities at the K-12 and community college levels.
