Many seniors begin losing some of their ability to maintain good balance before the age of 50. They are then more susceptible to falls which may result in minor fractures or even broken bones and head injuries. Since normal stability cannot be achieved quickly, each week the class will focus on exercises that gradually lengthen the muscle spindle. These exercises, which can then be continued at home, will help to build muscle strength, leading to better balance and stability. Improving one’s balance ensures a better chance of maintaining an independent lifestyle.
Instructor Noreen Gosch is a certified Yoga Master who has taught varieties of yoga classes for 45 years to seniors and other adult education groups. Recently she has added classes in balancing.
