Experience the side of the bars you would probably otherwise never see. The Polk County Jail is a 325,000 square-foot facility that occupies 40 acres in the  NE corner of Des Moines. The jail holds up to 1,100 inmates and detainees facing state and federal charges.

 

Guide Sergeant Will Arends has been with the sheriff’s office jail division for over 16 years. Currently he is an administrative sergeant.
